Honey Rye, our newest rye sourdough created for holiday season, is mildly honey-sweet and flavored with warm spices. Dried cranberries add a notch of both sweetness and tang, and pumpkin seeds add a bit of crunch so many of us love! Just like all our other rye breads are, Honey Rye is hand made using 100% organic stone ground whole rye flour. It’s a true sourdough with no added yeast; flavor and texture is achieved with long natural fermentation with the help of wild yeast (starter).
Honey Rye can be served either savory or sweet topping. Serve it as a breakfast, on charcuterie board, with goat cheese, tapenade – options are endless. Slice it thin and oven toast slices for home made, yet fancy crackers, and take some bread on hikes and trips for awesome source of energy.
Fermented rye bread stays fresh for up to two weeks if kept refrigerated. Freezing is also a great way to store bread longer without compromising flavor or texture. It’s best to thaw your bread at room temperature.
