Description

Vastlakukkel in Estonian, Semla in Swedish, Laskiaispulla in Finnish) is a traditional Northern European pastry to celebrate Shrove (Fat) Tuesday or Monday.

Our Vastlakukkel (Semla) is a traditional sweet cardamom bun, usually filled with jam and whipped cream. We do like to change things up sometimes, and you might find our Semla buns filled with compote and cream of mixed heavy cream and farmer’s cheese. The choice of jams or other fillings we use depend on availability, but some of our favorites are black currant, multi berry, rhubarb, and sour cherry.

Please write in the notes of your order if you’d prefer your Semla buns with only whipped cream filling.

These little buns are made in limited quantity and seasonally only.

Ingredients: wheat*,milk, butter, heavy cream (sometimes farmer’s cheese), eggs, fruit, berries, or jam, spices, citrus, sea salt

Minimum order: 4 buns
